patience,grasshopper!

Today I went back to the surgeon and had my last drain removed. Another step in the right direction! My next directive is to stand up straight! Yes, that is my next "training goal" - things in the recovery world are slow and I have to be patient to say the least. My next visit to the surgeon is in a month's time and I was told that if all things were looking good then I would be cleared to do 15 minutes cardio, such as a light walk. Initially, I was feeling a little horrified, then had to remind myself that I cannot stand up straight now and that by the time I get there, 15 minutes of cardio will be quite the accomplishment.
I think I may be a little less swollen than yesterday and may be able to get a better look at things when I have a shower (yes!) tonight. I really have to remind myself at every turn to be patient with this - I must be starting to feel better, even thinking of moving around!
Usually I don't mention my family much in this blog but I have had such amazing support from DH whilst I've been recovering, all meals cooked, washing and ironing done, girls taken to and from school plus looking after me and helping me shower, getting me in and out of bed and putting my tracky daks on for me and generally treating me like a princess. I really want to do something special to say thank you to him, any ideas?

LOL. Standing up straight is a GOOD goal. Ugh, that post-surgical hunched-over posture is not a good look!

Can't offer a suggestion for your husband, not knowing what his interests are. But it's so great to have that support. And a good thing that you appreciate him. :o)

Thats great news about the drain coming out, I bet it must feel more comfy with it out.
I bet it must be great to see some changes now the swelling is coming own, seeing the changes must be making being patient alittle easier because you know in the long term that its all going to be worth it :)
I think that is lovely that hubby is being so helpful you deserve to be pampered like a princess:)
How about a dirty weekend away when you are all healed?

Hi Liz!
I always look forward to reading about your recovery :-)

I'm glad the drains are finally out, I can't stand having them removed it feels so weird, I was such a big "wuss", that's what my surgeon called me lol.

As for you wonderful Hubby I think the best thing for him is that you recover slowly and then seduce him with you new body ;-)

Take care always,
Debs

Glad to hear you are on the mend, you are so brave!!!
LOL maybe new raunch underwear with the new 'improved' versions may be enough of a thankyou for him ;-)

Good luck with standing straight, you will get up some day and just suddenly do it. I didn't believe it when people told me that but it's true.

I think a night away with hubby would be a nice thank you.
