patience,grasshopper!

Today I went back to the surgeon and had my last drain removed. Another step in the right direction! My next directive is to stand up straight! Yes, that is my next "training goal" - things in the recovery world are slow and I have to be patient to say the least. My next visit to the surgeon is in a month's time and I was told that if all things were looking good then I would be cleared to do 15 minutes cardio, such as a light walk. Initially, I was feeling a little horrified, then had to remind myself that I cannot stand up straight now and that by the time I get there, 15 minutes of cardio will be quite the accomplishment.
I think I may be a little less swollen than yesterday and may be able to get a better look at things when I have a shower (yes!) tonight. I really have to remind myself at every turn to be patient with this - I must be starting to feel better, even thinking of moving around!
Usually I don't mention my family much in this blog but I have had such amazing support from DH whilst I've been recovering, all meals cooked, washing and ironing done, girls taken to and from school plus looking after me and helping me shower, getting me in and out of bed and putting my tracky daks on for me and generally treating me like a princess. I really want to do something special to say thank you to him, any ideas?

I'm dreaming of summer!

It's still unusually chilly in Brisbane, so I decided to put this summery image up to remind myself that summer is around the corner.
I've had an eventful few days - taught RPM yesterday which was great fun. This was my last week teaching at Toowong on Friday mornings and I'll really miss the crew that do that particular class. The nicest part is having morning tea together afterwards! I ran a lot of errands yesterday afternoon, caught up with everyone yesterday evening and had a great old chat with DH who arrived home after being away for the week in Woop Woop. DH couldn't stop saying that he was so relieved we were not living there anymore and that even going through town gave him really bad indigestion.
This morning I taught RPM again and had the pleasure of Alicia's company in class. It's always so nice to work out with another Figure girl so we were both able to cane it and think about what great hamstrings and glutes we are getting for our efforts! We then had a bit of play in the gym ( I wanted to do a little shoulder work) and then it has been off home to do some laundry, housecleaning and all of that other fun stuff I seem to put off all week.

He's back!

DH is back home safe and sound. I can't believe it has been a month since we last saw each other. Poor fella is having a sleep right now as his body is telling him it's time to go to bed (South Africa is eight hours behind the Eastern States of Australia) - it is lovely to see him again.

Workout this morning was Cathe's Cardio Fusion "Mix and Max" Premix which clocked in at 80 mins. I don't know if it's the workout or DH being home, but I have been absolutely starving today. I've wolfed down two slices of bread in addition to my usuals - weird in that I'm really not all that keen on bread. Maybe it's avoidance eating because what I think I am craving is chocolate. Luckily there is some Mr Cadbury's in the fridge to help me out!

Drawing Inspiration!

This morning I dragged myself out of bed and did P90x - Week 5, Day 2 - Plyo X. Every time I do this workout, it seems to get harder - probably because I am now more focused on technique, rather than just getting through the workout as such. I didn't really feel that enthused until I started the DVD and was reminded that one of the participants has a prosthetic leg. Seeing this guy give it his all in those circumstances pushed me to give it a good shake this morning. I then followed up with RPM 33 and gave myself a good hiding as John E would say.

It is very weird not having DH around. For one, when the alarm clock goes off, I turn on my bedside lamp. Usually this is a big no no and I am scavenging around for my workout gear in the dark. Secondly I added peanut butter (sorry Kek) to my oats this morning and no one blinked an eyelid! If I had done that in front of DH he would say, "what are you doing? Now my worst fears about your weirdness have been confirmed!". Charming DH..... I also added more starchy carb to recovery meal this morning and I am feeling really good right now - and taken my fish oil capsules. Once Mr Berardi has finished with me I'll be a veggie swilling, fish oil burping goddess :)

Many people want to know about the effectiveness of the p90x program. After five weeks my stats are - weight is the same....I am stronger for most pulls/pushes..must mean a little bit of muscle being added there! Wahooie! I certainly don't look puny :)
