Last RPM Hi Performance for a little while!

Today I taught my last RPM Hi Performance class before my big day next Friday. I felt quite emotional telling my class I'd be away for four months. I started off with a handful of participants and this class has grown considerably (full today). I think it's a combination of being a Saturday morning ritual, a good timeslot and hopefully a bit of my teaching ability that's affected the numbers in such a positive way. Anyway, I feel I have been very lucky with the class and learnt a lot from them as well as the other way around.

Had morning tea with Miss S and Andrea and then Miss S came over and we had a look at her in my comp bikini - she looks good, but the bikini top was a bit small - I will obviously have to buy a new suit when I compete again to fit the new additions.

After feeling a sad about having to leave my class, I began to feel excited about all of the things that I will be doing when I'm well again. I turn forty next year and I am having thoughts participating in a full marathon and perhaps a Figure Comp in the Masters Division to mark the occasion! Then there's a triathlon or two to squeeze in - a few of us are already talking about teaming up for Mooloolaba next year - should be awesome fun.

The prospect of recovery and rehab is one that most fitness afficiondos are too comfortable with and I am no exception. However, my goal is to be positive and to take every day one step at a time and celebrate the little achievements. When you become really fit, I think you can become a little bit immune to where you've come from and I will be celebrating climbing the stairs, rather than the great deadlifts I did in training.

Recovery/rehab is frustrating at times, but it's amazing how quickly you improve. I hope to never go through that again, but if I do, I think I can be a bit philosophical about it, having been there before.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to occupy yourself with while you're sidelined. :o)

I guess you just have to view your surgery as another phase of training - where you focus on one area you wish to improve on, and hold back on others. 4 months from now this will be in the distant past as you prepare for all those other goals with a new and improved bod!
By the way - I'm quite excited by the variety of goals you have set. I still wonder about a full marathon, and would like to do a few tri's next summer. But I'm really excited about the fact that you have such a variety of goals. Most people are much more exclusive - eg focussed only on running and tri's, or weight training/body building, or fitness classes etc. And when you look at the programs to achieve goals in these areas, the recovery schedules between sessions make it hard to fit in all the other things you like! I'm very much like you in this regard, and am keen to see how you schedule it all in! I guess you're going to have a few months ahead where you can do lots of planning!
Best of luck on Friday - I'll be watching your blog for updates

Hi Liz,
All the best for next week - I'm sure you are in great hands, and will find plenty to keep yourself busy during recovery.

Can't wait to catch up and finally meet you in May too! Looking forward to it!
Cheers
Carolyn

Woohoo! less than a week now; how exciting!
Yes-the recovery sucks...but at least you already know it's there and can plan for it....and being the fit chick that you are, I'm sure you'll fly right through it!
Wishing you the best!

Your recovery will be quicker than you know because you are so fit and healthy, just take it slow and don't rush it.
You are what!!! 40 next year? I would have never quest. Gosh! :-)
